Chapter 1: Introduction

Congratulations on your purchase of this high performance data/fax modem. This manual describes how to operate your new data/fax modem. This modem is a half-card PC plug-in modem with fax functions. Technically, it is a 14,400 bps fax and 28,800 bps modem with V.42bis 115,200 bps throughput.

For data modem applications. the modem is compatible with ITU-T V.34. V.32terbo, V.32bis, V.32, V.22bis, V.22, V.21, V.23, Bell 212A. and Bell 103. While operating in asynchronous mode. this data/fax modem uses the MNP Class 5 and V.42bis data compression schemes to achieve an effective throughput of up to 115,200 bps It also incorporates advanced features. such as flow control and speed conversion. This modem uses the extended Hayes "AT" command set, making it compatible with most comuter communication packages.

For fax modem applications, the modem is a G3 data/fax modem card. It is fully compatible with ITU-T V.17ter, V.17, V.29, V.27ter, T.4 and T.30 , Your new modem card can send and receive faxes at a speed of 14,400 bps using the Class I and Class 2 fax command set.
